Partners Auxiliary Working for The Sherwood Shelter (P.A.W.S.) is the volunteer arm of the Department of Humane Animal Services for the city of Sherwood, Arkansas. We encourage the participation of volunteers who support our mission: To aid the shelter animals by improving the quality of their lives while at the shelter and by helping them to be adopted, to help the staff so they can do their jobs more efficiently, to raise funds to expand the services our shelter can offer to our community, to promote the sterilization of all pets, and to assist the shelter staff in educating our community on all issues concerning the humane treatment of animals.

Simon, I.D. 10-C4, is a male, grey Tabby. He is a very vocal kitten, purring constantly. This little guy is about 3 months old and available for adoption NOW. Simon is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered. |
|
Max, I.D. 9D-907, was relinquished because he was "too big" for his person's apartment. We're guessing he was way “too active” to live in an apartment as well. This guy needs a yard for play and a family who will take him to obedience class, play with him a lot, and take him for long walks. He will do best in a family where someone is home most of the time and enjoys having Max inside for companionship. Max is around 5 months old and will eventually weigh around 50 pounds. |
|
Eldridge, I.D. 9C-367, is a handsome young man. He is soft, cuddly and lovable with people; however, he doesn’t get along well with other cats. Therefore, Eldridge needs to be the only kitty warming his person’s lap. Eldridge is about 3 years old and available for adoption NOW!!! |
|
Duchess, I.D. 9D-995, is a sweet girl, who needs a family. She enjoys her outings in the shelter dog park, and she is quite friendly. When Duchess first came to the shelter, she was very frightened, but thanks to a special volunteer who has spent hours brushing her, petting her, and giving her the love she deserves, Duchess is gaining confidence. This beautiful Lab mix is 7 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. Come and meet Duchess; she is available for adoption NOW. |

SHERWOOD HUMANE ANIMAL SHELTER PARTICIPATES IN SPAY DAY USA 2010 ONLINE PHOTO CONTEST
Meet Buddy Wiser and Brandi, two dogs rescued from the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter that are entered in the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Spay Day USA 2010 Online Photo Contest. The Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter is the only shelter in Arkansas designated to receive funds raised through this easy to enter contest. The more pets entered and the more people asking their friends and neighbors to vote for their pets, the more money will be raised to benefit the Sherwood Shelter’s low cost spay/neuter program.
To enter your pet and help the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter raise money for its spay/neuter program, go to www.humanesociety.org/spayday and click on the 2010 Online Photo Contest link. Then, just follow the easy directions to enter your pet. Be sure to select the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter as the organization you want to support. Entering is free and the HSUS is offering great prizes for over 500 winners. Next, email everyone you know and ask them to vote for your pet. Each vote costs $1 and the minimum vote/donation is $5. One hundred percent of the donations designated for the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter will go to the shelter and your donation is tax deductible.
This year the Sherwood Shelter’s volunteer group, Partners Auxiliary Working for the Sherwood Shelter (P.A.W.S.) is adding a little spice to encourage folks to enter the photo contest and designate our Sherwood Shelter as the beneficiary of their votes/donations. The following three prizes will be awarded to the three pets raising the most money for the Sherwood Shelter with their pictures: 1st place - $100 gift certificate at PetSmart, 2nd place - $50 gift certificate at Petco, and 3rd place - $25 gift certificate at Gander Mountain.
If you don’t have a pet to enter in the Spay Day USA online photo contest, go to the HSUS 2010 Online Photo Contest web site and click on “search pets.” Filter the entries by “Local Organization” and select the Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter. Vote for one of the pets already entered whose votes/donations will support our Sherwood Humane Animal Shelter’s low cost spay/neuter program. |
