Partners Auxiliary Working for The Sherwood Shelter (P.A.W.S.) is the volunteer arm of the Department of Humane Animal Services for the city of Sherwood, Arkansas.  We encourage the participation of volunteers who support our mission:

To aid the shelter animals by improving the quality of their lives while at the shelter and by helping them to be adopted, to help the staff so they can do their jobs more efficiently, to raise funds to expand the services our shelter can offer to our community, to promote the sterilization of all pets, and to assist the shelter staff in educating our community on all issues concerning the humane treatment of animals.

SARGE is available for adoption NOW. Sarge is too small to be a purebred Rottie, but he sure has all the handsome characteristics of a purebred. He shows all the great qualities of a Rottie: loyalty and a steady, calm temperament. Rottweilers need consistent, positive training and plenty of exercise. A bored Rottie can be a real problem. They are very protective of their territory, so be sure to warn your meter reader that Sarge has joined the family. Rottweilers are wonderful family dogs with the proper training, and do best if included inside with their family. However, corporal punishment should never be used as a training method. Hitting a Rottie will only make him distrustful & mean.

Lucky, I.D. 10C-52, is a beautiful Tabby female.  She is declawed and ready to warm her new person’s lap and heart.  We think Lucky is around 3 years old.  She is available for adoption NOW.

Sherwood’s 2nd Annual

Pet Fair & Fun Raiser

RAIN! RAIN! GO AWAY!  COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY!

Due to severe weather, the Sherwood Shelter canceled the Pet Fair & Fun Raiser scheduled for Saturday, May 1.  The new date is Saturday, May 22.  Please mark your calendars and come share in the celebration.

The Sherwood Shelter’s staff has been hard at work since January planning this year’s Pet Fair & Fun Raiser.  Robin Breaux says that almost all the exhibitors and vendors who came to the fair last year will be there again with many new additions.  Two major fund raisers are in the works:  an elementary school poster contest and a silent auction.  Funds raised will benefit the Frannie Medical Fund and the HSUS KIND News program.

The Pet Fair is held at the Sherwood Municipal Complex on East Kiehl Ave. from 9:30 a.m. — 3:30 p.m.

Sammy, I.D. 10D-158, is a charming little Rat Terrier mix who is a people oriented guy for sure! He wanted to hang around us just to be sociable and close rather than doing much running around the play yard. He's white with black areas on his head, shoulders, and tail. He looks so cute with the little bobbed tail, too. We estimated him at about 15-20 lbs, and perhaps 6 years old. Come by and check out this great guy! He's available for adoption NOW.
